ten things three: birthday edition

1.  a birthday eve thunderstorm breaks the oppressive heat and turns the streets into rivers of trash, broken glass, and confused cats.  we can't go home, not in this weather.  so we stay all night, pile feast upon feast, and watch the river from the terrace.

2.  that valiant man who spends his whole day with a gas powered vacuum strapped to his back, sucking up cigarette butts that are lodged in between the cobblestones.

5.  a monkey named chakie ate my birthday cake.

6.  a german, a swede, a holandaise, two turks, a greek, and a korean, holding sparklers and a cake with my name on it, trying to remember the english words to "Happy Birthday"

9.  i'm not kidding about the monkey thing.

10.  sweet dreams are made of this.  who am i to disagree?  i've traveled the world and the seven seas.  everybody's looking for something.
